At the September Village Board meeting, the Board voted to approve a new contract with Johns Disposal for garbage and recycling pickup. Beginning Monday, November 4, 2024, the Village will move to automated collection using receptacles provided by Johns Disposal.

Garbage and Recycling receptacles will be delivered to each single-family home the week of October 28, 2024. They will be delivered to the end of the driveway in the location that should be used for pickup. The first pickup with the new receptacles will begin on November 4, 2024.

There are two major changes: 

  1. All garbage and recycling pickup will occur on Mondays for the entire village.
  2. Recycling will be picked up every other week.

The Board chose every other week recycling pickup to maintain a 0% price increase for 2025.

Johns offers services such as a second recycling cart or up the drive service for an additional fee. Any extra services will be contracted through Johns and will be billed directly to the homeowner.
